I'm sitting here wearing next to nothing as it's so so hot in Melbourne today. I'm in flow so I'm going to keep writing in what will become a three part blog series. Given 2015 is now in full swing I got to thinking while blogging about resolutions what are some of my goals, intentions and resolutions for this new year? I better heed my own advice and make them obvious and known (remember it helps with accountability). I also started to think more about how meaningful my goals are and how passionate I am about making them more than just resolutions, but part of my life. My theory is the more meaningful something is to you the more likely you are to achieve it. This was something that was also ingrained in me in my studies as an occupational therapist. It’s that time again. How on earth did it come around so damn quick? Fastest. Year. Ever.
It only feels like yesterday it was January and I was just putting the Christmas tree away! It feels as though time is speeding up and life is moving very fast. The hope for any down time in December and taking five to relax may feel like mission impossible.
With only 16 days until Christmas are you finding yourself rushing around madly with your to-do-list in hand, racing from shop to shop trying to get the ‘perfect’ gift for your loved ones? Are you spending longer in the car park fighting for a car space than in the shopping centre itself?

Yoga takes me to another place. A happy place! ☺
After yoga I feel a lightness, like I could float away. As if I haven’t a care in the world. Even on heavier days when I feel as if I’m carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders I feel lighter and more energised.
Yoga stretches me. It stretches my mind and my body. It challenges me and I like a challenge.
It takes me back to the good old days of warm ups at jazz ballet. Muscles, tendons and deep fascia stretching, slowly lengthening and softening.
Yoga is my constant teacher. It encourages me not to compare myself to others, even when I’m tempted to look around. Yoga reminds me we're all so different and all on unique journeys. While I may have good general flexibility, particularly in my hamstrings, I have THE puniest triceps you’ve EVER seen! But that is ok.
Yoga teaches me to slow down. To just breathe. To be more present. Then to breathe some more.
